Mesay G Yigezu

Hello, I'm Mesay

NLP Researcher

Ph.D. in Computer Science specializing in NLP and machine learning, advised by Prof. Alexander Gelbukh and Prof. Olga Kolesnikova. My research focuses on multilingual hate speech detection for low-resource languages, with an emphasis on cross-lingual transfer learning, dataset quality, and fairness-aware modeling. I design transformer-based models and implement data-centric methodologies to advance explainable AI (XAI) and ethical reliability in multilingual systems. Experienced in university teaching and student supervision, my broader interests include responsible AI and digital ethics across domains.

ABOUT ME

SKILLS

Technical expertise in AI and Research.

NLP

Build text classification systems, implement machine translation pipelines, develop NER and text summarization tools, and create conversational AI chatbots.

Explainable AI (XAI)

Identify influential features and their scores, audit machine learning models for transparency, and ensure algorithmic compliance with regulations.

Multilingual Models

Fine-tune transformer-based models, manage cross-lingual transfer learning, and optimize tokenization and vocabulary for diverse languages.

Data Science

Design and implement predictive models, engineer features from raw data, deploy machine learning models, and perform rigorous A/B testing.

Data Analysis

Build interactive dashboards, conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA), generate performance reports, and recommend data-backed business improvements.

Cloud Engineering

Architect and deploy virtual servers on AWS, implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC), set up CI/CD pipelines, and monitor cloud resources.

System Administration

Install, configure, and maintain operating systems; manage Active Directory and IAM; and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies.

Network Engineering

Configure and manage routers, switches, and firewalls; design and implement VPNs; monitor network traffic; and execute infrastructure upgrades.

Digital & AI Ethics

Develop ethical guidelines for AI, conduct impact assessments, advise on privacy-preserving techniques, and monitor algorithms for discriminatory outcomes.
